Construction is scheduled to start in 2023, with completion in 2024 for the first on-campus housing at Capilano University. 362 housing spaces are going to be built, along with a 250-seat dining hall, and will be located on the main campus of CapU.
The Province is providing $41.5 million toward the $58.2-million project. Capilano University is investing $16.7 million in the project.
This facility will house first and second-year students. The first floor of the facility will have dining facilities, laundry, common rooms and First Nations-focused reflection and gathering space. The other five floors of this six story building will provide housing. 12 of the units will be accessible units. Priority will be given to Indigenous students.
This will be such a welcome addition to North Vancouver.
